Mark I U.S. Navy Ships Clock |
Circular wall mounted clock in
chromed brass case with black dial with white Arabic numerals marked
"Mark I. Deck Clock/U.S. Navy/N 7587 1940". Brass spring driven
movement with key, 8" diameter x 3" deep. There is an old inked
manuscript label on the side of the clock reading "U.S.S. Mobile".
The U.S.S. Mobile was a Cleveland Class Light Cruiser, launched May 15, 1942
under the command of Captain Charles J. Wheeler. The ship won 11 battle stars
during service from 1943-45 in the Pacific and played an important role in
many of the major battles in that theater. |
