203 Thomas Jefferson Craddock Folk Art Cane Thomas Jefferson Craddock Folk Art Cane All over deep carving with birds in flight, running squirrels, turtle, fish, snakes American flag, feathers and much more with extensive  carved inscriptions reading "Rosewell P. Flower of New York"; "Thomas Jefferson of Va. Born April 13, 1743 Was President  USA 1801 To 1809 Wrote Declaration of Independence Founder of University of Va. 1819 Died  July 4, 1821 This Cane Was Cut Near Jefferson’s Tomb", with original brass " ferrule, total length 35 1/2". Unfortunately little is know of this cane carver, even though he made a large number of these fine folk art canes. Nearly all relate to President Thomas Jefferson & the University of Virginia. Craddock was born in 1845 in Albemarle Co., Virginia. A T.J. Craddock enlisted as a private in the CSA under the command of General Thomas Rossner's Cavalry and was wounded in 1863 at Hamilton Crossing. Fine. 400 800

Sole Makers John Jaques & Son LTD London. King Edward's Derby, Minoru Leading", opens to divided compartments with six 3" long x 1 1/2" high race horses with jockeys, all painted in different silks and colors, plus canvas board, 26 x 36", folded in polychrome colors on green field, plus 8 1/4 x 9 1/2" illustrated 4 page booklet of rules, and a deck of cards with horses on backs. Includes an Enfield triangular steel bayonet with 17 1/4" blade, total length 20 3/4" with original black leather scabbard with brass throat with frog and brass drag, total length . This Model 1850 field officers sword has a single edged steel blade with 3/4 length fuller, etched with military symbols and marked "Paris" on left ricasso, brass guard/knuckle bow, brass pommel with half backstrap, ray skin wrapped grip with braided wire wrap, total length 38". Includes leather scabbard with brass throat with carrying ring, middle band with ring and brass drag in 3 pieces As above and wire wrap on grip mostly gone. 200 400

Steel scabbard with throat, two middle bands with carrying rings and drag, total length 36 1/2" with allover brown patina. As above, else Fine. 100 300

Lilly & Co. Columbus, O." and on right with a stamped beaver, hilt with cast brass guard with relief spread winged eagle clutching arrows and laurel branch in talons with crossed flags behind, floral cast knuckle bow, pillow pommel with relief spread winged eagles, leather covered grip with brass wire wrap, total length 34". Nickle plated steel scabbard with brass throat, two brass middle bands with double and single carrying ring and cast brass drag with crossed flags, total length 29 1/2". 217 ID'd Civil War Photo ID'd Civil War Photo Ninth plate tintype half length portrait of Wm in frock coat in leather book form case with period inked inscription behind image reading in part "Wm Henry died April 12, 1864 Friends that are ??? Mourn the loss of so dear a friend…". Found in Brown Co., Ohio and there were 37 Wm Henry's in the Union Army from Ohio, none listed as dying on April 12, 1864, but the massacre at Ft. Pillow did happen on that date. Fine. 100 200
