4 Rare Bennington Life of Kossuth Book Flask Rare Bennington Life of Kossuth Book Flask In mottled brown and green Bennington type glaze, impressed on spine “Life Of Kossuth”, attributed to Lyman Fenton & Co., circa 1851. Lajos Kossuth (1802-84) was a Hungarian Revolutionary who toured the U.S. in 1851, and was celebrated much like Lafayette. 2” x 4” x 5.75” high. Embroidered inscription along bottom reads, “Elizabeth Nimon Done at Mrs. Callan’s School/Pittsburgh July 11th 1823. Aged eleven yrs.”   18.5" x 21.75”, in walnut frame. 27 Scarce Dan Patch Race Horse Hooked Rug Scarce Dan Patch Race Horse Hooked Rug Circa 1900 showing two horses with “Dan/Patch” between, nice geometric border, 26 x 45”. Dan Patch (April 29, 1896-July 11, 1916) was the outstanding pacer of his day. Dan Patch broke world speed records at least 14 times in the early 1900s, finally setting the world's record for the fastest mile by a harness horse (1m:55s) during a time trial in 1906, a record that stood unmatched for 32 years (Wikipedia 2014). Slight fading, and one small 1” hole near border, else fine. $200 $400
