390 IDA CARMICHAEL (CINCINNATI, OH) OIL PAINTING Ida Barbour Carmichael (Cincinnati, Ohio, 1881-1981) 16" x 20" oil on board titled "The Swan of Tuoni" from the Kaleuala theme, Rune XIV.  Signed lower right "Ida Carmichael".  This painting is from the Ida Carmichael Estate, accompanied with a letter from family.  The painting was exhibited at the Loring Andrews-Ratterman Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1963. Ida Carmichael graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston in 1904.  She received a masters degree from the University of Cincinnati and Doctors of Education from the University of Oregon in 1945.  She studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy with Reginald Grooms, Clement Barnhorn and Herman Wessel.  Her work has been exhibited at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Closson's Galleries, Butler Art Institute, Ohio Valley Art & Watercolor Show, Loring Andrews Galleries, etc.  She taught at the Walnut Hills High School from 1930 to 1951.  Dr. Carmichael was a member of the Women's Art Club of Cincinnati, the National Society of Modern Art and the Ceramic Guild of Cincinnati, as well as various other local and national associations.  Fine condition.  EST. $1000. - $2000.
